The character design could be defined as the drawing of the characters. The character designer is in charge of giving life to the cartoon characters and to determine a coherent graphic style between all of them.

In Candy Candy, the character designers greatly followed Yumiko Igarashi's illustrations. In the anime, the style is much simpler, certainly because of low cost and time requirements. In the manga, the characters change clothes regularly, especially Candy, whose gowns are amazing! In the anime, the characters wore out the same clothes to the bare thread! :-))
